Castelletto - Abbiategrasso
It is the earliest nucleus of Abbiategrasso that you meet when coming from the direction of Milan along the Naviglio Grande: a settlement formed at the beginning of 1200 after the excavation of the canal connecting the capital of Lombardy with the Ticino river. It owes its name to a small castle which the Town of Milan built to take advantage of its strategic position.
It is in Castelletto that the Naviglio forks towards Pavia, taking the name Naviglio di Bereguardo
