     Church and cloister of Sant'Angelo
Once their convent outside Porta Nuova had been demolished to make way for the Spanish ramparts, the Observant Franciscans were given new headquarters in piazza Sant'Angelo (1552) by the governor Ferrante Gonzaga. The statues that decorate the facade, finished at the start of the XVII century, are the work of Marcantonio Prestinari. The single, vast nave is an authentic exhibition of the most important Lombard painters in the XVI-XVIII centuries.

     The convent of the Annunciata
The great historical-artistic acquisition of the third Millenium for Abbiategrasso came with the recently concluded renovation of the former convent of the Annunciata, beside the ring road towards Magenta. Numerous renaissance frescoes were discovered in the refectory and in the church. In the apse, a whole series with the Stories of the Virgin reappeared, also unveiling none other than the signature of the author Nicola Mangone di Caravaggio, 1519, an important element for the reconstruction of Milanese painting from the early sixteenth century.
