Archaeology
Milan is a truly ancient city, and its origins can be traced as far back as the fourth century BC. For a brief period the city was the capital of the Western Roman Empire and it was here that Constantine issued the edict of toleration towards Christians in 313.
A city with a great past, of which some signs still remain clearly visible to this day. Well worth a mention is the city’s museum of archaeology (Civico Museo Archeologico). Located in an extraordinary architectural setting, it tells the story of the first one thousand years of Milan’s history from the 5th century BC to the 5th century AD.
