Una grande Provincia, tanti luoghi da vivere

  • Lacchiarella Oasis - Source : Municipality of Lacchiarella
     Lacchiarella Oasis
An area that extends for about 40 hectares located on the perimeter of the South Milan Agricultural Park. Created through the abandonment of several plots of land previously used for farming, the area underwent a rapid process of renaturalisation, in which the typical trees and shrubs of the Po Valley Plain spontaneously colonized the space left free by man. The area contains some environments that are extremely rare in the agricultural plain and the birds that can be seen there are undoubtedly one of the Oasis's main attractions in every season of the year.

     Lago/Oasi di Basiglio
The Basiglio lake, created from a quarry, like other artificial lakes, is deemed particularly interesting from the fauna standpoint, especially due to wintering aquatic birds. In fact, it is an area specially equipped for bird watching: as one of the most important wetlands from the naturalist standpoint, the growth of marsh vegetation ensure food resources and shelter for birds. The area includes concealed paths and observation towers that let the public observe the fauna without disturbing them.
  •  Le Foppe" WWF Oasis
The "Le Foppe" WWF Oasis is a nature zone consisting of small ponds, clearings and woodland. The area features a number of different natural or natural-looking habitats that are all part of the typical surrounding landscapes, consisting of cultivated fields and scattered, man-made infrastructures (houses, roads, industrial warehouses), since the site is located in a strategic position between the main course of the River Adda and the town of Trezzo.
  • Centre for Environmental Training and Education
LIPU Oasis - Italian Bird Protection League
Born in 1997 thanks to the collaboration between the LIPU, the Municipality of Cesano Maderno and the Groane Park Consortium, the Oasis is spread over an area of approximately 100 hectares of woods, pasture land and bogs close to a very urbanized and industrial zone, and constitutes one of the most important woodland management programs conducted by the LIPU. Four kilometres of footpaths and a cycle path crossing the area: these are the two ways to visit the area and discover the wonders of the Oasis .
  •  Oasi Smeraldino
It an authentic wild and natural oasis covering 22 hectares in the heart of the Rozzano park where wild plants and animals are protected. The name comes from the numerous local population of European green toad, a small amphibian that emits an especially gentle sound.

     The Enrichetta colony
A few hundred yards before reaching the Ticino, the Strada della Chiappana comes to the ex-municipal heliotherapy colony of Abbiategrasso hidden away in a large forest. In the past, generations of young citizens were lovingly treated there but today, Colonia Enrichetta houses the Permanent Centre for Environmental Education of the Parco Lombardo della Valle del Ticino, with guest quarters, meeting and projection room, educational laboratories, canteen and kitchen. Passing close by is the E1 long distance trail: the colony may be used as a base by people going on excursions.

     Vanzago Woods - WWF Oasis
An area covered by the municipalities of Vanzago, Pogliano Milanese and Arluno. Over 143 hectares owned and managed by the WWF Italy. The environment of the natural reserve is one typical of the lowlands, known as the “pianalto asciutto”. The woods are the remnant of the great hunting forests of the Viscontis and the Sforzas. There is a significant presence of expanses of water of varying depths. The countryside along the outer strip has an abundance of stable pastureland, hedges, planted rows, and areas with trees. The environment is in a large measure the result of a work of environmental reclassification done over the years by Ulisse Cantoni, the original owner of the estate, who wanted to give it as an endowment to the environmental association, so that its conservation would continue through time.
  •  Zona umida di Pasturago
The Pasturago Oasis, to the south-west of Milan, is surrounded by fields growing mainly rice and, because it is a "damp area", is the focus of considerable naturalistic and scientific interest. The whole area (about 28 hectares) has fairly large permanent flowing streams (Roggia Bareggia and Triulza), groundwater, ditches, artificial ponds and wetlands, that is, drainage ditches of almost stagnant water.
