Tourism monitoring centre

The statistics office at the Tourism Department records tourist flows to the city of Milan and Province under Regional Law no. 15, art. 8 from 2007. More specifically, it records the arrival, departure and presences figures of Italian tourists (divided into Regions) and foreigners (divided into Countries), in accommodation in the Milanese area.

Bearing in mind the provincial duties – specified in the Regional Law – our hotel office also has access to the annual census of the database that enables us to outline the holding capacity and characteristics of accommodation.

The Monitoring Centre was founded with a view to integrating the statistics office’s work, developing studies and research on the tourist reality, to meet the information needs both of bodies and institutions as well as tourism industry workers.

Thanks to particular skills and activities developed over the years, the Province finds itself, more so than any other public or private body, with a significant amount of information sources on the tourist reality that the Monitoring Centre can use to its advantage, in compliance with the obligations established by privacy laws.

In particular, in this section you will find:

-    tourist flows and accommodation
-    studies and research
