Villa Zari Mereghetti

Built during the 1700's, originally was the guest headquarters of the more famous Villa Firsiani Olivares located in number 25. It was then turned in to an independent villa. The façade is still decorated with frescoes depicting niches and statues. Built rectangular shape over two floors, with two lower wings, the two small buildings might have been used as the stables, in order to create a U-shaped structure. Located in via Cattaneo, it now belongs to the Mereghetti family.

Crossing the area of the historical Fiera, we will arrive at the seat of Il Sole 24 Ore and at the stadium "Meazza".

From the Stadium we will arrive at three parks, all of which are valuable elements of this area: Trenno Park, Boscoincitta and Cave Park.

Still an integral part of the metropolis, along the old Roman road towards "Novaria" (the Latin name for the city of Novara), we will find Settimo Milanese (For septimam lapidem the seventh - plaque) with a fraction of Cascine Olona. Located here is the gothic oratory of San Giovanni Battista.

Amongst the new and old buildings, we will continue along the Padana Superiore road, through the village of St. Peter all'Olmo, that has a Romanesque church of the same name.

Then we will continue onto Sedriano, where the oratory of San Bernardino stands out in this small and orderly historical centre.

Heading towards Novara still on the Padana Superior, in an urban area dense with successive new residences, industrial and commercial structures, we will find one of Milan's most stunning suburbs, an example of a high quality area. In the centre, the ancient Roman "curia picta", on the crossroads where the road that led from Switzerland to Milan and that between Milan and Turin, group together is surrounded by streets lined with elegant facades of villas that between the 1600s and 1700s were seen as ideal homes and proclaiming one's fortune. On recalling the most important names of Lombardy nobility, one will find that in many cases they are still the owners. It was not the presence of a scenic canal that drew them, as in Robecco or Cassinetta. It was the proximity to Milan and the mild climate, ideal for the construction of sumptuous mansions that adorned splendid parks designed by famous architects and it was also suitable for controlling their farms.

Naturally, amidst the scenery is the shrine of Our Lady of Miracles.

A short distance from Corbetta is Magenta, whose name is linked to the bloody battle that on June 4, 1859, with the victory of franco-piemontesi troops over the Austrians, started the process of Italy's unification with the second War of Independence. From the Villa we will take a side street surrounded by beautiful greenery along the Naviglio, where we will arrive in the village of Ponte Nuovo; continuing on the path along the industrial complex Saffa.

From Magenta we will enter the territory of Lombardo Park, in Valle del Ticino.

Thus, we will arrive in Boffalora, where they have preserved the old atmosphere of the village with the characteristic Portico of Customs and its Bridge on Ticino.

Now, in the outskirts of Milan, on an area of 53 hectares, where the former Agip refinery was, Milan opened the new Fiera di Milano in the territory of Rho - Pero, in 2005.
