Morimondo
Although the origins of the inhabited area go back to the Roman era, the history of Morimondo (27 Km from Milan) is intimately bound to that of the Abbey. It was the monks who were responsible for reclaiming the surrounding territory and organising its water supply, and the signs of their work can still be seen in the surrounding agricultural landscape.
At first glance, Morimondo doesn't seem too different from the other towns of Bassa, but when the monastery comes into view, and the lawns take the place of the houses, it can feel like being transported eight or ten centuries back in time.
