Centro culturale Cascina Grande
The story of the former Zanoletti Cascina at Rozzano, now the Cascina Grande, is that of the large 19th century estates in the "Bassa Milanese". Built in 1881 on the request of one of the major landowners in the area, the Marquis of Zanoletti, the farmhouse stands behind the old centre of Rozzano located on the Naviglio Pavese, 12 kilometres from Milan.
It was home to agricultural activity undergoing mechanisation that probably led to the creation of this unique plant in the shape of a V, totally different from the square or rectangular shapes typical of Lombard farmhouses. For decades, the estate was one of the most florid rice production and picking centres in the area.
Notes
The "large" wing of the old farm complex has been transformed into a modern, welcoming library.
